How do you combine wineries & restaurants with a holiday?
I don't know many wine producing countries that have such a variety of wine styles and gastronomy as Spain. Plus all the 60 wine regions in Spain have lots to offer beside wine and great food!
We will be chauffeured with a specialized bilingual wine guide to the top wineries (wine tasting always accompanied with delicious tapas!), will taste rare vintages, will visit wineries normally closed to general public. We will eat at to the most acclaimed restaurants in Spain; we will visit all the highlights of the area.
And the most important in our tours: we will meet the REAL People: the chefs, the wine makers, sommeliers and the people that make the Spanish life style possible!
"The Spanish cuisine is ahead the rest of the world" French chef Marc Veyrat "Spain takes off, France sleeps a siesta..." (New York Times)
As an example the three most world known wine regions are the Rioja, Cava and Sherry.
Go to the cava region and you will be within 20 minutes driving of Barcelona, one of the most beautiful cities on the Mediterranean
Go to the Rioja region and you will be next to the Basque country, a lush green incredible landscape with royal cities like San Sebastian or the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao.
If you are a food connoisseur Basque country is certainly a must.
Go to the Sherry region and you will be in Andalusia, the soul of Spain. The incredible Moorish palace of Alhambra in Granada and also near Seville a magical city and the perched pueblos blancos made famous by Hemingway.
A few things in life are better than an excellent meal with an incredible wine...
Spain is well known for its wines and gastronomy. One goes with the other. Spain has more vine acreage than any other country and a wine tradition since the Phoenicians settle in the region in 1000bc. Wineries are proud to own 70 year old vines, with trunks as thick as small trees that produce heavy bunches of intense flavored grapes.
Many people drink Freixenet (one of the most popular sparkling wine in the US at celebrations, not realizing is a Spanish Cava!
