Where are the rides?
Girona has become a place where the big names in cycling live or have a 2nd residence. It is truly a cycling haven. Not surprising when you consider the beauty of the lush mountains, the rugged coast and the incredible roads.
Starting at the Pyrenees, across the French border, and doing one of the most beautiful and forgotten cols of the Tour de France, col d'Ares and one featured in many Vueltas de EspaƱa, Vallter 2000. 73 km 4 cols. Starting at 295m and climbing to 2090m! This is a very challenging tour with 2 ports of 1st Cat with % increasing up to 10% and 12% at the end of the ride. See part of the Pyrenees road in our movie.
Second ride will be one of the most beautiful and challenging ciclotourist routes through the Volcanic national park of La Garrotxa. This is a surprising route where you will be able to see at least 10 cones in an incredible vegetation. The forest is mostly covered by hays and oaks. Autumn is an explosion of colors.
88 km 3 cols. Starting at 300m and climbing to 1040m. Fantastic views of the craters. Finish line in the Olympic town of Banyoles. Check our altigraphs.
The last cycling tour will be a leisurely cycle of 51 km. Leisure but doing one of those not too lofty climbs. 385 meters in all, often used in the Catalan week and is a regular fixture on Amstrong's Tour preparations..Continuing we will cycle through medieval towns and sunflower fields toward Costa Brava (rugged coastline).
Just as appealing are the medieval villages that crown the rolling inland hills. Often guarded by a crumbling castle, their cobbled streets of honey-colored houses are full of history and a delight to cycle through. This most leisurely of cycling reveals both aspects of this charming corner of Catalonia, with the chance to discover the region's acclaimed gastronomy, and the wines produced by the vineyards you pass on your route.
We will finish the trip in one of the most beautiful and authentic towns on the coast, Calella de Palafrugell. This area is where the mountains meet the sea. To unwind and relax for the rest of your trip.. We will take a private boat to stop at some of the amazing beaches in small coves along the coast.See our slideshow of the tour
